The FixLine is a Lean model for organizing the preparation and painting phases in the body shop. These work phases occur with a linear concept, where the car transitions from one work phase to the next in no more than 5 seconds by being pushed along plates with rails, which we call CarMover. On the line, there are specific work areas for each phase of the repair, allowing us to utilize 50% of the workforce without specialized or extensive experience, as the activities in these phases do not require it. We provide our customers with procedures and training to ensure they achieve the best results. The FixLine system works for repair, Prestige, Classic, or Reconditioning cars. The quality of the work and the size of the damage are not obstacles for this body shop model.
DryKing technology, which enables the fast drying of waterborne coatings, is our latest innovation. Over 20 years of experience, acquired by drying paints with the Drytronic infrared robot, has allowed us to develop an algorithm that, taking into account humidity, temperature, air quantity and time, will enable us to dry a water-based paint in about 8 minutes compared to 30 in a classic cabin, in any season of the year and with any brand of paint.
In 2001, we developed our first fully automatic drying robot for infrared paint drying with Drytronic technology. We immediately realized that the drying processes worked better if the application process was also revised to achieve greater efficiency and quality. We invented the SPAP process, so we spent the first ten years teaching our customers how to apply filler, primer, base, and clear coat, improving efficiency by 100% with absolute quality and guarantee. Then, about 15 years ago, we decided to extend these same concepts to all phases of body repair, and we began designing layouts not simply by positioning the equipment where it was most convenient. Instead, as consultants, we analyzed the type of repair our customer required and, consequently, designed first the repair process from estimation to detailing, and then the layout. We provide our customers not only with a balanced layout featuring coherent spaces for each phase of the repair, but also with our mathematical analysis, which includes processing times, the number of workers per phase, and the budget for the new repair cost. Linked to the process, we can provide Lean procedures and training for each phase of the repair.
We have always designed our products mechanically and electronically because we prioritize investing in research and development. We have a team of engineers with diverse skills who create and improve new products every day to make the body shop more efficient and enhance its quality. In our 15,000 sq m - 162,000 sq ft plant, we produce products for all stages of construction, certified to CE, AS/NZS, and cETL standards. We also have the license to build UL-certified electrical panels. The diversification of our products, with 14 different categories comprising more than 70 primary products and approximately 200 accessory products, is a consequence of thinking about offering body shop solutions rather than individual products. Every time a specific operational need emerged during the study of the repair process, it led us to consider a product that provides a valid solution to the problem. This ongoing pursuit of perfection has driven us to think, design, and build all the products in our catalog.
When I started 24 years ago, people’s values were different from those of today; there has always been a progressive change in the way of thinking from generation to generation.
However, what has happened from COVID to today is probably equivalent to a cultural leap of 4 or 5 generations.
The scale of values has brought the cost of the product to the forefront today; quality, design, and trust in the supplier are all qualities that have been relegated.
